Auto Insurance Savings — a Modified Vehicle

Wednesday, January 12th, 2011

Many people like to customize their vehicles. Some just add a few modifications here and there while others go way overboard and actually turn their vehicles into something the original manufacturers can’t even recognize. While it does fulfill your fantasies, it’s important that you understand how it affects your auto insurance rate.

You can’t get a low rate with a modified vehicle, period! There are many reasons for this. One is that you’d have compromised the safety design of the vehicle once you’ve touched the core design or power rating of the vehicle.

Also consider this: Which vehicle would attract a car thief more? Is it a vehicle that comes with standard wheels or one where the wheels have been replaced with $5,000 special alloy wheels? You guessed right. It’s the special wheels. This then means that such a vehicle has become a worse risk since it has a higher likelihood of either being stolen or vandalized.

Finally, add the cost of replacing such a vehicle and you’ll appreciate why no insurer can let you off with a low rate once you modify your vehicle. But to be truthful to ourselves, if you have the cash to customize your vehicle then you certain shouldn’t be rattled by the extra hundreds of dollars you’d have to pay for coverage.

Economy Or Budget Auto Insurance Policies

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Car insurance is an easy thing to pick up, but that doesn’t mean in any way that you should take the process for granted, or that you should take the process lightly. Quite the opposite actually. You should be taking the process quite seriously, because this is perhaps the most impact per dollar that you’ll ever see in the economy. A wrong decision here, about this relatively paltry amount can mean the difference quite literally between going bankrupt and remaining solvent, as a result of some sort of car accident. That’s the rub of it really; auto insurance is really there to thwart and avoid financial ruin; it’s the reason that it was made compulsory in this country, and it’s the reason that many people today endure a lot of financial hardships because of poor decisions about things like this. They think they’re doing the prudent thing by going with the budget or economy package.
